BrownChicken Train Rolls On
23 September 2009
The BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand has been on the road for almost a month now traveling from Southern West Virginia to the tip of Northern California. We left Butler Mountain in the morning and made our first stop in Knoxville, Tennessee. We visited a couple of the venues we played during Spring Tour and stayed with some friends. Busking in the center of Knoxville where the town has an open mall area is proved to be fruitful. We sold our first CD on the road to a nice lady named Patience, who took several pictures with us and had us sign the copy of Gallop On You she picked up. Later that evening we stood four stories in the air on top of the building we slept in that night watching trains and polished some of the new tunes that emerged this Summer.
Our next stop was in Eastern Oklahoma where we set up camp after dark near Robert S Kerr Lake. While we were setting up we were talking about how it sounded like it was raining, but no one was getting wet. Never-the-less we played a few tunes to shake-off the drive and hit the sack. Early that next morning I woke to the sound of rain drops again or what seemed like rain drops. I opened my eyes as I felt the pecking weight of the drop to see how wet we were about to get when I saw the rain drop crawling up my sleeping bag disguised as a spider. It was at this moments that I immediately recalled all the "Rain Drops" from the night before... I spontaneously flew out of my hammock and begin waking people up "fellers, it's raining spiders time to cut a rug". I got out with only one bite from sleeping in a spider storm, "not bad I thought" when I imagined how many had landed and made there way out of my bed during he night.
Back on the road driving towards Normand, Oklahoma; which is about 30 miles south of Oklahoma City we found a very cool college town. You could see the buzz of Oklahoma State University all around and we were happy to be cruising with Mark Prickette. Mark was our contact to the show we booked at Coach's Brewhouse. I want to take a second to send a special thanks to Mark, top self all the way! This show was a lot of fun. We got a tour of the brewery by the Brew Master, ate some great food, and played three sets. We will have a video of this part of the trip up on YouTube soon and we will continue posting for any one who wants to keep up with our travels. Everything has been going great, the music is feeling better than ever and sights are literally awesome. We will send out a notice as soon as we get the footage edited and posted. Thanks for all your support, Chicky BrownCow.
